Because
the enormous success of the “First Series”, Eclipse immediately
issues, the same year a second series of James Bond trading cards,
the “James Bond 007 Second Series”. Obviously it’s
a follow up to the previous card series. This second series contains
pictures from “You Only Live Twice”, “On Her Majesty’s
Secret Service”, “Diamonds Are Forever” & “Live
And Let Die”, the first James Bond movie starring Sir Roger
Moore as agent 007. The series is known among the collectors as the
“Silver Card Set”, because all the cards are printed with
a silver border.

"Second
Series Counter Dislay Box"
The
counter display box was finished with an orange background, again
depicting a still of Sean Connery, this time as agent 007 in “Dr.
No” and the famous 007 Gunlogo. A yellow text balloon on the
box mentioned about collecting the six card Bond Girl subset. On the
left and right wing, the box showed four pictures of the Bond Girl
subset. This counter display box and it's predecessor are frequently
popping up on eBay, sometimes full of packs and still wrapped as one.
An empty box like this is always a nice addition to your James Bond
memorabilia collection. Again the counter display box contained 36
packs, sadly there were only 10 cards per pack. Again the wrappers
were beautiful designed, depicting some artwork of a James Bond silhouette
seen through the eye of a gun barrel, only this time the title was
finished with yellow lettering and a blue caption “Second Series”.
The wrapper reverse mentioned the three ring binder and collector
sheets. A custom imprinted vinyl 3-ring binder with 13 clear 9-pocket
plastic sheets enough to hold the entire 110 card set. You just had
to send $8,95 plus $2,00 p&h to Eclipse Enterprises to obtain
your personal binder. Notice the 2,00$ price rise to purchase the
binder. This time the wrapper displayed a blue binder compared to
the red one for the first series. Honestly I don’t know if they
issued a blue binder as I have never seen one before.

"Second
Series Wrapper"
Just
like the previous series, the cards were superbly finished, the only
difference was the silver border instead of a gold one. On each card
the picture on the front was accompanied by a short title. The complete
description was printed on the reverse side. Sadly enough, the following
major error appears on one of the cards; The front title on card N°
92 displays “Solitaire Kidnapped”, but the card shows
us clearly a picture of the beach scène in the James Bond movie
“On Her Majesty’s Secret Service”.
For
the second time in a row, this trading card set contained a chase
set. The chase set is known as “The James Bond Girls” and
displays six beautiful pin-up pictures of the girls.
This little subset is highly in demand by the card collectors, price
wise you can find the cards on eBay from about 20€ or cheaper.
There is no need to pay more for this set. The subset is numbered
from BG1 through BG6. One of the chase cards had a minor printing
error, the text on the reverse of card BG5 mentioned “Mei Hama”
instead of “Mie Hama”.
To protect
and to store both James Bond trading card series (Gold & Silver),
“Eclipse” manufactured a three ring binder, a so called
collectors album. The blood red binder displaying a 007 Gunlogo printed
in pink (SIC !). Underneath the pink Gunlogo the following text was
printed in white lettering “Trading Cards”. The binder
is a tough one to find, probably because of the low amount of binders
they manufactured.
