Rittenhouse
Archives Ltd. proudly presents the first ever James Bond lenticular
trading card series, ”The Women Of James Bond In Motion”.
Lenticular printing is a technology in which a lenticular lens is
used to produce images with an illusion of depth, or the ability to
change or move as the image is viewed from different angles. This
technology was created in the 1940s but has evolved in recent years
to show more motion and increased depth. Originally used mostly in
novelty items, lenticular prints are now being used as a marketing
tool to show products in motion and also in the manufacturing of trading
cards.

The
base set has 63 stunning cards depicting the gorgeous Bond girls in
lenticular format. The counter display box was finished in silver
grey depicting a black and white still of Ursula Andress and Halle
Berry, a time jump of 40 years. Each counter display box contained
twenty packs with six randomly inserted cards (Five lenticular cards and one bonus card., Precious information
about the new card set was printed on the box reverse. In contrary
to the previous trading card sets, this time Rittenhouse guaranteed
two instead of one personally signed card per box and a complete base
set.

Let’s
start with the first chase set, known as the ”Bond Girls
Are Forever”. Twenty different cards depicting a black
and white still of the beautiful Bond girls, one from each movie.
The reverse displayed a different |
picture
of the girl in the front. The Bond girls were randomly inserted
into 1/5 packs and numbered from BG01 thru BG20, the card design
is similar to the dust jacket of the “Bond Girls Are Forever”
book written by Maryam D’Abo. In 2002, Maryam drew on
her experiences as a Bond Girl to write, produce and host Bond
Girls Are Forever, examining the culture and connotations of
being a Bond girl, and the subsequent effects on a film career.
This interesting documentary shed new light on the topic of
James Bond films, and appeared on British and American television.
This documentary is available on DVD. Maryam was born in London
(England) on the 27th December 1960. She became world famous
in 1987 when playing the role of Bond girl Kara Milovy opposite
to Timothy Dalton's first role as James Bond in the “The
Living Daylights”. |
|
A
continuation of this precious chase set will come with the release
of “The Quotable James Bond”, “Dangerous Liaisons”,
“The Complete James Bond”, “James Bond In
Motion” and the “ Heroes & Villains” trading
cards series. These first 20 cards are the hardest en most expensive
in the “Bond Girls Are Forever” chase card series.

In
each movie James Bond meets the most beautiful and the most dangerous
girls, some of them are out for a kill, the others to share his bed.
On the next page are the nine “Femme Fatales”, the second
chase set in this series. The “Femme Fatales” cards are
numbered from F1 thru F9 and were randomly inserted in 1/4 packs.
This chase set will have a continuation with the release of the James
Bond “Mission Logs” card set in 2011”.

A
third chase set existing of only nine cards showing the wonderful
Halle Berry who played the role of Jinx next to Pierce Brosnan in
“Die Another Day”. In this nine card chase set Jinx is
shown in full glory, a must have for the Halle Berry fans, Jinx was
inserted into 1/7 packs and numbered from J1 until J9. For the Halle
Berry fans I just would like to say “Enjoy the pictures”
To
succeed in his adventures, the ladies from MI-6 do play an essential
part in the life of James Bond. This six card chase set gives us look
at those lovely ladies, “M” played by Dame Judi Dench,
“Miss Moneypenny” played by the late Lois Maxwell and
Samantha Bond and “Dr. Molly Warmflash” played by the
gorgeous Serena Scott Thomas. The MI6 ladies were distributed by 1/3
packs and numbered as M1 thru M6.
“Women
of MI6”
To enhance
the already huge collection of personally signed autographed cards,
many of the Bond girls were approached by Rittenhouse Archive Ltd.
This approach resulted in fifteen brand new autographed cards. The
new cards are issued in a different style or design, a style known
as “The Women of Bond”. These personally signed cards
are hard to find and very much wanted by the many trading card collectors
and autograph hunters, giving them high prices on the collectors market.
The cards are numbered from WA01 thru WA15. Lynn-Holly Johnson personally
signed card WA09, the card was only available when purchasing the
special designed collectors album. Lynn-Holly Johnson played the role
of Bibi Dahl in “For Your Eyes Only”. I was so lucky to
personally meet Miss Johnson in 2005 during a movie fair in Holland,
a very nice lady if I may say so. She was born on the 13th December
1958 in Chicago, Illinois, USA. Card WA15 was personally signed by
Lois Chiles, she became world famous for her role as Dr. Holly Goodhead
opposite to Roger Moore’s James Bond in the 1979’s “Moonraker”.
This particular card was only available when you purchased several
cases at one time. This so called Multi Case Topper card is extremely
rare and hard to find. The card WA15 was not mentioned on the sell
sheet and came as a surprise to the collectors.

To
store and protect this unique trading card set, Rittenhouse Archives
Ltd. manufactured a special designed three ring collectors album.
Each album contained twelve 9-pocket protection sleeves, promotion
card P3 and the personally signed autograph card WA09. To promote
this new trading card set, Rittenhouse Archives manufactured three
promotion cards and a exclusive dealer sell sheet. Promotion card
P3 was only available when purchasing the exclusive three ring binder.

"Women
Of James Bond In Motion Exclusive Binder"
Contrary
to the announcement on the sell sheet, some of the chase sets received
another title; “Bond Heroines” was named as the “Bond
Girls Are Forever” and “Women In Action” was changed
into “Femmes Fatales”. Also announced on the sell sheet
and to make things even more difficult for the collectors was another
three card lenticular chase set. The three cards are known as the
“Case Topper Lenticular Card Set”.
According to the information on the sell sheet, the three new lenticular
cards were going to be numbered as B1,B2 and B3. In reality the cards
are numbered as CT1, CT2 and CT3, each depicting a lenticular scene
of Sean Connery, Roger Moore and Pierce Brosnan.

Twelve year after the release of this wonderful card set it came to my knowledge that there was an Archive Box for this card set. I don't know what the box contained but I guess it was a complete set including all the autograph cards, the case toppers, incentive card and the promo's.
"Archive Box"
As mentioned in the beginning, the
base set has 63 cards. The cards are made in a flexible plastic instead of the usual thick paper stock. The first 63 cards are covering the movies from "Dr No" until "Die Another Day". As you can see below there are 69 cards, the last 6 cards covering "Casino Royale" and "Quatum Of Solace". These last six cards came as an expasion set with the release of "The James Bond Heroes & Villains" trading card set in 2010. A small difference is that the number is printed on the reverse instead of the front, also the card reverse is white to create a better image visability.
