During
the summer of 2012, Rittenhouse announced the release date for the
James Bond 50th anniversary series 2 trading cards. Set for the 7th
November, just one week after the UK release of "SkyFall".
What a timing. All the James Bond card collectors were waiting to
get the even card numbers to complete the first series. Only a few
weeks before the release date, the checklist was released on the website
containing more then four hundred cards. Each box contains 3 autograph
cards. Randomly inserted bonus cards include an incredible 108-card
"From Russia With Love" throwback-style set which retells
the entire story of the movie in never before seen detail, with many
never before published photos, as well as the Gold Plaque cards, the
Gold Gallery cards, Shadowbox cards of Daniel Craig, Timothy Dalton
and Pierce Brosnan. More then fifty autographed cards to collect,
including some first time signers. Similar to the previous card sets,
you could download an ad sheet and try to get hold of the promotion
cards. Promotion card P1 holds a picture of Sean Connery in a "From
Russia With Love" style, Timothy Dalton pops up on the P2, the
third promotion card P3 comes with the binder and shows Halle Berry
as seen in "Die Another Day". Clifton James as seen in "Live
And Let Die" and "The Man With The Golden Gun" is honoured
on the P4 promotion card. The last promotion card NSU UK P5 is the
hardest one to get and really pricy because of the limited distribution
of only 300 cards. Showing a picture of Jaws and Major Amasova in
"The Spy Who Loved Me" this card is a must have for the
diehard card collectors.

Since the
release of the “James Bond Heroes & Villains” trading
cards, the beautiful sell sheets disappeared from the market, they
were replaced by downloadable copies in pdf format. For the James
Bond 50th Anniversary series 2, an ad sheet was available on the website.
See the sample below.
For the
second series, the base card set and the parallel base card set numbering
is even. When sliding the cards into 9-pocket sleeves, you get nine
cards for each movie from "Dr. No" to "Quantum Of Solace".
Again each card has a golden base displaying a circular picture displaying
a villain, a girl, James Bond and many never seen before stills. The
difference between the base set and the parallel cards is the embossed
gold foil, all the pictures on the front and reverse are exactly the
same.
From
Russia With Love
The second
chase set only holds four cards, printed on a clear acryl base the
cards are displaying posters of the four main actors. James, Severine,
Silva and Eve who later in the movie reveals herself as Miss Moneypenny.
The cards are numbered from SF1 to SF4 and randomly inserted in 1/48
packs. That's only one for two boxes.
“SkyFall
Poster Cards”
The third
sub or chase set is a continuation to the Gold Plaque cards. Starting
from "For Your Eyes Only" the twelfth James Bond movie until
"Quantum Of Solace" the twenty second James Bond movie.
The cards are numbered from P12 to P22 missing P23 for "SkyFall".
Randomly inserted into 1/12 packs or two per box, these cards are
quiet easy to collect. Again each card has an embossed movie title
with a small text giving information on the movies release date, the
director and the actor who played James Bond. The reverse shows the
original poster and a small listing displaying the leading actors
& actresses.

"007
Gold Gallery"
The Gold
Gallery cards are a continuation to the already nineteen beautiful
Bond girls. Yes nineteen because Rittenhouse issued a reward card.
The reward card displayed a black and white still of Ursula Andress.
Only available through their reward program makes the card very rare,
thank god for eBay. The second series also has a reward card, this
time a full color still of Vesper Lynd. The cards are numbered from
GG2O through GG37 and randomly packed in 1/12 packs. The girls included
in this second part are;
- Daniela Bianchi as
Tatiana Romanova in "From Russia With Love"
- Mollie Peters as Patricia
Fearing in "Thunderball"
- Luciana Paluzzi as
Fiona Volpe in "Thunderball"
- Jill St. John as Tiffany
Case in "Diamonds Are Forever".
- Gloria Hendry as Rosie
Carver in "Live And Let Die".
- Britt Ekland as Mary
Goodnight in "The Man With The Golden Gun".
- Caroline Munro as
Naomi in "The Spy Who Loved Me".
- Lois Chiles as Dr.
Holly Goodhead in "Moonraker".
- Carole Bouquet as
Melina Havelock in "For Your Eyes Only".
- Tanya Roberts as Stacey
Sutton in "A View To A Kill".
- Allison Doody as Jenny
Flex in "A View To A Kill".
- Grace Jones as May
Day in "A View To A Kill".
- Maryam d’Abo
as Kara Milovy in "The Living Daylights".
- Famke Janssen as Xenia
Onatopp in "GoldenEye".
- Teri Hatcher as Paris
Carver in "Tomorrow Never Dies".
- Michelle Yeoh as Wai
Lin in "Tomorrow Never Dies".
- Denise Richards as
Dr. Christmas Jones in "The World Is Not Enough".
- Rosamund Pike as Miranda
Frost in "Die Another Day".
- Eva Green as Vesper
Lynd in "Casino Royale".
“Shadow
Box Cards”
As we
could expect, Rittenhouse produced three new Shadow Box cards displaying
close ups from Timothy Dalton, Pierce Brosnan and Daniel Craig. The
numbering continuous from S4 to S6 and again the cards are randomly
packed in 1/96 packs. Perhaps some collectors may like this type of
cards, but for me they are to tick what makes it impossible to store
them with your other cards in the specially designed binder.
“Autograph
Cards”
The autograph
card collectors are really spoiled this time, no less than fifty seven
new autograph cards are out there to be collected. Twenty nine cards
in the 40th anniversary style, twenty seven cards in the full bleed
style and one double signed card as a six case topper. Each box contains
three autograph cards. What about the 40th Anniversary Cards, a series
that started in 2002 to coincide with the 40th anniversary of James
Bond. Until today the numbering ends at 221 but still missing six
cards (99, 111, 155, 159, 188 & 206). These cards will probably
pop up in a future card series. But will it ever be complete, who
knows? A new series of full bleed cards has been added to the already
exploding collection that started in the "Dangerous Liaisons"
trading card series. For each card series these full bleed cards are
given a new numbering, so there is no continuation. To obtain the
last autograph card, personally signed by Roger Moore and Richard
Kiel, you have to purchase at least six cases or try your luck in
bidding on eBay.

As always
the cards are distributed in cases, each case contains 12 boxes, a
box holds 24 packs with inside six randomly selected cards. A simple
calculation gives a total of just 144 cards per box including three
autographed cards. This number of cards indicated how difficult it
may be to collect the whole set, or just a simple base set. The case
and the box are shown here below.

The second series gives us three different case toppers. Each case comes with a case topper card picturing the "SkyFall" poster displaying Daniel Craig in firing position. The three case incentive card is the relic card JBR28 containing a small piece of Franz Sanchez's Airplane from "Licence To Kill" . As always this card is strictly limited, this time to only 333 cards. The six case incentive card is the full bleed autograph card personally signed by Roger Moore & Richard Kiel.
