May 2023, a few days ago Upper Deck announced a new series of James Bond trading cards. Rumours say the release date is October 2023. The fifth of March 2025, two years after the announcement was made the cards were released together with the extensive checklist that you can download or just check at the end of this page. This is the third set of James Bond trading cards produced by Upper Deck. "James Bond Black Diamond" follows the 2019 "James Bond Collection" and the 2021 "Villains and Henchmen". One thing I know for sure that this is going to be a very expensive set, with an announced price of 299$ per box.
This is the first high-end 007 product, featuring an extensive selection of premium autographs and relics. What can we as card collectors expect from this mega huge card set, this set encompasses the last 60 years of Award Winning Bond Films. You can find one impressive Exquisite® Collection Base Set card in each box, on average!
As I said before, expensive, very expensive. Here is some math; there are 1779 different cards, only six cards per box, so let's say you have all the luck in the world 1779/6 = 296,5 boxes x 299$ per box makes a total of 88.653,5$ or 82.447,755 €. If you can afford it, there is always the option to buy a case. On case holds 10 boxes and secures you for only eight autographed cards.
Sometimes you will find a redemption card instead of the real card inside your wrapper. To obtain your card, you need to send the redemption card to Upper Deck and if you lucky they will send you the card that is mentioned on your redemption card, if they have it in stock.
This trading card set is nearly impossible to complete. Starting from the base cards, there is only one single base card in every box. So you have to be very very lucky to get them all. According to the checklist that I found on the web, there are fifty six different subsets including the parallels and the base set. A small listing is shown here below to make the card set more understandable and it gives easy access to the individual subsets.
“Base Cards & Parallels”
Where is the time that we had promotion cards, a sell sheet etc..? Yes that was the Rittenhouse era. Let's start with the new base cards. One hundred cards to start the collection, but there are six parallel sets; "Red Spectrum", "Gold Spectrum" , "Diamond Relic", "Blue Sapphire Diamond Relic", "Purple Sapphire Diamond Relic" and the "Pure Black Diamond Relic". Good for a total of 700 cards. The last four parallel sets come with embedded little diamonds "Single, Dual, Triple and Quads". Each set has the same pictures., Here below you can see the base cards and there parallels. All the cards are in portrait format and numbered from #1 to #100. Most of the cards are very limited, so meaning they are hard to get your hands on. The reverse has a small text explaining the role of the actor. The "Red Spectrum" is numbered to 49, the "Gold Spectrum" to only 10, the "Diamond Relic" to 25, the "Blue Sapphire" is numbered to only 10, the "Purple Sapphire" to just 5 cards and the "Pure Black" to just one card only.

The next insert set is 25 cards displaying all the different actors that played agent 007. From Sean Connery to Daniel Craig. Each card is sequentially numbered to just seven cards and contains a few embedded little fake diamonds. Each movie has it's own card with the actor and some diamonds.

“007 Diamond Relics Signatures”
The following insert set is just one single card, a card signed by George Lazenby, the actor that played the role as agent 007 in the 1969 movie "On Her Majestys Secret Service". The card is numbered as 007DRS-GL. Good luck in finding this lone ranger. The card is limited to only seven.

“Metal Film Logo”
The next insert set is named "Metal Film Logo" and consists of only twelve cards. The cards are numbered from #ML-1 to #ML-12 and limited to only fifty cards. All these cards are printed in landscape and come with an embedded metal logo showing the film title.
“Metal Film Auto Parallel”
Following the "Metal Film Logo" subset, are the six "Metal Film Auto Parallel" cards. Each card is autographed by the coresponding actor and comes with a metal logo showing the film title. The cards are sequential numbered to only 50 cards and are very limited, the number is printed on the right side of the card. The Lea Seydoux and Pierce Brosnan card is only available by a redemption card.

“Metal Posters"
The next insert is 72 cards. The "Metal Posters". Only twelve movies receive some credit with six cards for each movie. The movies are not sequential listed and start with "Casino Royale", "Dr. No", "From Russia With Love", "GoldenEye", "Goldfinger", "Licence To Kill", "Moonraker", "On Her Majestys Secret Service", "SkyFall", "The Spy Who Loved me", "Thunderball" and "You Only Live Twice". Some of the cards are really hard to get, for example : Joseph Wiseman as Dr. No, Richard Kiel as Jaws, Gabrielle Ferzetti as Marc Ange Draco and Adolfo Celi as largo. The cards are inserted in the hobbypacks 1:8 and 1:24.

The "Agent 007" insert set are 25 cards, again each movie starting from "Dr. No" until "No Time To Die". James Bond is pictured on the left side of the card, on the right side is the gun barrel. Inside the gun barrel is an acetate picture of the actor. We have seen this type of card in "The James Bond Legacy" created by Upper Deck in 2019. All the cards are printed in landscape, the reverse displays the gun barrel covered with blood as seen in the opening sequence of the movies. Each card is numbered from #A-1 to #A-25. Again these cards are very rare and each card is sequentially numbered up to only 25 on the left side of the card.

“Band Of Color”
"Band Of Color" is one of my personal favourites, a very shiny card with a band of six different colored diamonds. Red, orange, yellow, green, blue, and purple.The cards are numbered from #BOC-1 to #BOC-12. These cards are the most difficult to get your hands on, there are only six cards produced of each.
“Diamond Connections”
The "Diamond Connections" is a insert set of 25 cards showing the picture of an actor in the centre of a diamond shaped background. The actors are randomly chosen. The cards are printed in landscape and numbered from #DC-1 to #DC-25. There are only 99 cards printed for each actor, so again very limited. The background is a kind of acetate (shine trough) with a diamond relief.

“Diamond Shard 3-Piece Relic Booklet”
The "Diamond Shard 3-Piece and 9-Piece Relic Booklet" sub sets are new to me. They look like a small book that you can open. Inside there are three or nine pieces wardrobe worn by the actor pictured on the left side.I guess they will only come as a redemption cards, as described in the beginning of this page. These booklets are really thick, see the picture here below of a closed booklet.

All the booklets have a deep blue cover with silver lettering. The pieces of wardrobe are inbedded in a diamond shape. Here below some examples to show how these booklets look. These booklets are inserted by 1:11 into the hobbypacks, the 9-piece shard is limited to only 49 booklets.

Upper deck took the right decision to name this trading card set "Black Diamond". To give credit to the 1971 James Bond movie "Diamonds Are Forever", the designers at Upper Deck created twelve different cards to tie-in with this movie. The "Diamonds Are Forever Relics". The cards are very rare and contain at least three embedded diamonds. The front is printed in portrait, the back is printed in landscape and has a small text explaining the scene in the front.

Whoops, another insert set named "Dossier". Fifty cards with randomly selected actors covering twenty five movies. The cards are numbered from #D-1 to #D-50. “Dossier Black Parallel”
Next to follow the "Dossier" insert set, there are two parallel sets to the "Dossier". First there are twenty five "Dossier Black Parallel" cards and second we have fifteen "Dossier Black Auto Parallel" cards. The last fifteen cards are personally signed by the actor displayed on the card. All these parallels are difficult to find. The Black parallels are serial numbered to #25.

“Gemography”
The next level are the five "Gemography" cards and the twenty seven "Gemography Signatures" cards. Each card is individually numbered and very scarce. The most precious signature for me is the one from Ana de Armas who played the role of Paloma in the last EON production James Bond movie "No Time To Die". The cards are serial numbered to only twenty-five.

“Gemography Signatures”
A Gemography Signature card signed by Ana De Armas was sold on the 7th March 2025 for £2136,22 or about 2540 EURO. To me, a bit over the top.
“Gold Nugget Relics”
Its not just sparkly gems that are in the product. Collectors can find small nuggets of gold in Goldfingers Secret Reserve. To honour the 1963 James Bond movie "Goldfinger", Upper Deck created a small insert set holding five cards, displaying the five main actors, Sean Connery as James Bond, Gert Frobe as Auric Goldfinger, Harold Sakata as Oddjob, Shirley Eaton as Jill Masterson and Honor Blackman as Pussy Galore. This set is named "Goldfinger's Secret Reserve Gold Nuggets Relics". These cards are numbered as #GSR-1 to #GSR-5. Until now I have only seen a redemption card to obtain the real thing. These golden nuggets are only available with a redemption card.

After the gold nuggets, we stay in the metal area with the "Metal Array" cards. A set of thirty nine black metal cards with rounded corners like a credit card. There are three parallel sets, Gold, Red and Black. Each set is good for thirty nine cards for a total of one hundred and fifty six cards. All the cards are in portrait showing one of the actors in front of a gun barrel. Here below you can find a full set of the base metal array cards and some samples of the parallels. The Gold parallels are serial numbered to #99, the Red parallels are serial numbered to #25, the Black Parallels to only #1, what makes them extreme difficult to find.

This set holds thirty autographed cards, all printed in portrait style.The cards are serial numbered in the range from #25 to one #199.
“Silver On Black Signatures”
Thirty five autographs in the next insert set, nothing new again here. The actors all signed with a silver pen on a black background. So this set is named "Silver On Black Signatures". Many actors signed on two different cards. To me this is going to far and many many times we have the same autograph on very expensive cards. The cards are serial numbered in the range from fifteen to ninety-nine.

A Silver On Black card signed by Ralph Fiennes was sold on the 7th March 2025 for £1857,58 or about 2210 EURO. Is it really worth that kind of money? I guess not, but who am I?
“Silver On Black Signatures Relic Booklets”
Following the "Silver On Black Autographs" we have the "Silver On Black Signatures Relic Booklets" cards. A small insert set holding only six so called booklets. When opened, the left side shows a picture of the actor, with a signature on the right side. On the left side underneath the image there are three pieces of wardrobe worn by the actor in the picture. Super rare cards/ booklets that you can only get with a redemption card. Only 25 booklets are created for the following four actors; Christoph Waltz, Daniel Craig, Lashana Lynch and Ralph Fiennes. Lashana and Christoph each have two different booklets.

This time no diamonds, but sparkling signatures on a little black board next to the picture of the actor, there are 38 autographs, new signers here are Billy Magnussen and Ana de Armas. Most difficults here are: Pierce Brosnan and Daniel Craig. Most of the actors signed two different cards, so there are only 23 signatures in this whole set. The cards are randomly inserted by 1:3 in hobby and E-packs.

“Exquisite Collection & Parallels”
To follow the "Sparkling Scripts" cards, we have the fantastic shiny "Exquisite Collection" and their parallels. The base exquisite collection has fifty cards. A randomly selection from Gemma Arterton to Wayne Newton covering all the movies from "Dr. No" to "No Time To Die". Here below is a full selection of the base cards, followed by some examples of the parallels (Gold, Purple, Blue, Red, Pink, Orange and Black). Each card is sequentially numbered what makes these cards very rare and expensive. The cards reverse has a small text and a cropped picture of the one in the front. The parallels are serial numbered from Gold #99, Purple#75, Blue#49, Red#25, Pink#10, Orange#5 and the Black#1. So the Black Parallel cards are very difficult to find.

An exquisite collection without an autograph version would be very strange, so Upper Deck created the "Exquisite Collection Autographs" and of course a red parallel set to go, the "Exquisite Collection Autographs Red". One time twenty six cards and one time twenty two cards for a total of forty-eight autographed cards. Again all the cards are printed in portrait. Here also no new signatures, only a different card with another background. Lea Seydoux (two cards), Ana de Armas and Toby Stephens didn't sign the red parallels. All the cards are serial numbered in the range from only five to ninety-nine.

“Exquisite Collection Auto Booklets”
Almost at the end of this mega big set are two little sets of only three cards, the "Exquisite Collection Auto Booklets” and the "Exquisite Collection Auto Relic Booklets". Here below you can see an example of an Auto Booklet. The one here below is signed by Famke Janssens who played the role of Xenia Onatopp in "GoldenEye". Again these booklets are only available with a redemption card. Only ten of each booklet are produced what makes them extremely rare and expensive.

“Exquisite Collection Auto Relic Booklets”
Until now, 19 May 2025, I haven't seen one of the "Exquisite Collection Auto Relic Booklets". So here is my guess that I will have a relic and a signature. The cards are serial numbered to only five. So again extremely hard to find. The cards are signed by Christoph Waltz as Blofeld, Daniel Craig as James Bond and Lashana Lynch as Nomi.

To end with the most difficult cards, we have the "James Bond Franchise Autographs". Only eight cards printed in portrait format holding one autograph personally signed by the actors. The numbering is very strange, I have no clue were and how they come up with this numbering.
